Swicy: The New Flavor Craze
A delicious dish combining the popular 'swicy' flavor profile with tender chicken, featuring a glaze that perfectly balances sweet and heat, inspired by global culinary traditions.
Ingredients
- 2 lb chicken thighs boneless
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp garlic minced
- 0.5 tsp ginger grated
- 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes or to taste
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Pat chicken thighs dry. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. In a small cup, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until lightly browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until chicken is cooked through and sauce has thickened. If sauce is too thin, add cornstarch slurry and stir until desired consistency.
- Serve immediately with rice and vegetables.
Notes
Adjust red pepper flakes for desired spice level. Serve with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables. This glaze also works well with tofu or pork.
