Fresh Citrus Fish Crudo
A vibrant, refreshing dish featuring thinly sliced fresh fish marinated in a zesty blend of soy sauce, olive oil, lime, chili, and ginger, perfect as an elegant appetizer or light main.
Ingredients
- 300 g sushi-grade white fish such as sea bass or snapper
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 1 tsp lime zest finely grated
- 1 tsp fresh ginger julienned
- 0.5 tsp red chili finely chopped (like serrano or jalapeño
- fresh cilantro or microgreens for garnish
- sea salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Ensure your sushi-grade fish is thoroughly chilled. Using a very sharp knife, thinly slice the fish against the grain into uniform pieces, about 1/8 inch thick. Arrange the slices attractively on a large serving platter or individual plates.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, extra virgin olive oil, fresh lime juice, and finely grated lime zest.
- Add the julienned fresh ginger and finely chopped red chili to the dressing, mixing well.
- Carefully spoon the dressing evenly over the thinly sliced fish. Let the fish marinate for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld, but no longer to keep the fish fresh.
- Season lightly with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper if desired. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves or microgreens before serving immediately.
Notes
Use the freshest, sushi-grade white fish possible, such as sea bass, snapper, yellowtail, or salmon. Adjust chili amount to your preferred spice level. Garnish with fresh herbs like cilantro or thinly sliced radishes for added color and crunch. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
