A delicious and iconic Vietnamese sandwich combining a crispy baguette with savory pork, rich pâté, creamy mayonnaise, fresh herbs, and tangy pickled vegetables for a perfect balance of flavors and textures.
Ingredients
- 1 each crusty baguette
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp pâté pork or liver
- 4 slices chả lụa Vietnamese pork sausage
- 0.25 cup xá xíu sliced Chinese barbecued pork
- 0.25 cup pickled carrots and daikon finely julienned
- 0.25 cup cucumber sliced thinly
- 0.25 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 0.5 tsp red chili sliced (optional)
- 1 tsp soy sauce
Instructions
- Slice the baguette lengthwise, leaving one side attached. Lightly toast if desired.
- Spread mayonnaise evenly on one inner side of the baguette and pâté on the other inner side.
- Layer the chả lụa and xá xíu evenly inside the baguette.
- Add the pickled carrots and daikon, followed by cucumber slices and fresh cilantro leaves.
- If using, sprinkle sliced red chili for a spicy kick.
- Drizzle a small amount of soy sauce over the fillings for added depth of flavor.
- Close the sandwich gently and serve immediately to enjoy its crispy exterior and fresh, flavorful interior.
