Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
A timeless favorite, these classic chocolate chip cookies are soft, chewy, and loaded with melty chocolate. Perfect for sharing or a sweet treat for yourself.
Ingredients
- 113 g unsalted butter softened
- 100 g granulated sugar
- 165 g light brown sugar packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 180 g all-purpose flour
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 170 g chocolate chips semi-sweet
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them. For uniform cookies, use a cookie scoop.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are still slightly soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra chewiness, use a mix of semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips. Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours) deepens the flavor and prevents spreading. Don't overbake; the edges should be golden, and the centers slightly soft. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before moving to a wire rack.
