Ingredients

  • 5 whole dried butterfly pea flowers
  • 1 cup hot water freshly boiled
  • 0.5 teaspoon honey or agave nectar optional
  • 1 slice lemon optional

Instructions

  • Place the dried butterfly pea flowers in a heatproof mug or teapot.
  • Pour one cup of freshly boiled hot water over the flowers.
  • Allow the flowers to steep for 3-5 minutes, or until the water achieves a deep blue color.
  • Strain the steeped flowers and discard them. You now have a beautiful blue tea.
  • Sweeten with honey or agave nectar if desired.
  • To experience the color change, add a squeeze of lemon juice or a lemon slice to the tea and watch it transform from blue to purple!

Notes

For a cooler option, let the tea chill completely and serve over ice. Experiment with other citrus juices like lime or orange for varied color effects. Add a pinch of mint for an extra refreshing twist.
