A comforting and versatile sweet milk sauce, incredibly easy to prepare with basic pantry ingredients. It's a simple, charming addition to many desserts.
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1.5 tsp granulated sugar or to taste
- 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat.
- Once melted, add the milk and granulated sugar. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Serve warm immediately or let it cool slightly before using as a topping or base.
Notes
Adjust sugar to taste. For a richer sauce, use heavy cream instead of milk. Add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness. Serve warm over pancakes, waffles, fruit, or ice cream. Can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
