Honey Garlic Glazed Chicken
A delectable dish featuring tender chicken pieces coated in a rich, sticky, and perfectly balanced sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. This recipe is designed for those who appreciate generous protein servings and crave a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 2 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional
- 2 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water (cornstarch slurry)
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro chopped
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Pour the whisked sauce mixture into the same skillet. Bring to a gentle simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy, about 1-2 minutes.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly with the thickened sauce.
- Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
For extra crispiness, broil for the last 2-3 minutes. Serve with steamed rice, quinoa, or roasted vegetables. You can substitute chicken thighs for breasts for a juicier result. Adjust chili flakes for desired heat.
