Ingredients

  • 1 loaf crusty bread (e.g.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Slice the bread almost all the way through, creating diagonal cuts about 1-inch apart, without cutting through the bottom crust. This creates the pull-apart sections.
  • In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until everything is thoroughly incorporated.
  • Carefully spread the garlic-herb butter mixture into each cut of the bread, making sure to get some on the top and sides of the loaf as well. If using, sprinkle Parmesan cheese into the cuts and over the top.
  • Wrap the loaf loosely in aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy. The butter should be bubbling and the garlic fragrant.
  • Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then serve warm and let everyone tear off their delicious pieces!

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese over the bread before baking. You can also add finely chopped fresh parsley or chives to the butter mixture. Serve immediately for the best experience. Great with marinara sauce for dipping!
