Ingredients

  • 4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar unfiltered
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or molasses or honey
  • 2 inch fresh ginger peeled and thinly sliced or grated

Instructions

  • In a pitcher or large jar, combine the water, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup (or your chosen sweetener), and fresh ginger.
  • Stir well to ensure the sweetener is fully dissolved.
  • Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Strain the switchel before serving to remove the ginger pieces, if desired.
  • Serve chilled over ice.

Notes

For an extra fizz, top with sparkling water. You can also experiment with different natural sweeteners like honey or agave. Add slices of lemon or lime for an extra citrusy twist. The longer it sits, the stronger the ginger flavor will become.
