Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings drumettes and flats
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 3 tbsp gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce low sodium
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil toasted
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 0.5 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp water optional
  • sesame seeds for garnish
  • green onions sliced

Instructions

  • 1. Pat the chicken wings thoroughly dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the dried wings with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  • 2. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. Cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • 3. While the wings are cooking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated fresh ginger. Stir well and simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly. If the sauce is too thick, add a tablespoon of water to reach desired consistency.
  • 4. Once the wings are cooked and crispy, transfer them to a clean large bowl. Pour the warm honey gochujang sauce over the wings and toss until every wing is thoroughly coated in the sticky, flavorful glaze.
  • 5. Garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving immediately. Enjoy your irresistible Swicy wings!

Notes

For extra crispy wings, ensure they are thoroughly patted dry before seasoning. Adjust gochujang amount for desired spice level. Serve with a side of cooling ranch or blue cheese dip and fresh celery sticks. These wings are also fantastic baked in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 35-45 minutes, flipping halfway.
