Sweet & Spicy Air Fryer Wings
These wings are a vibrant fusion of Asian flavors, boasting a sticky, glossy glaze that perfectly balances sweet, spicy, and tangy notes. They are incredibly tender on the inside and crispy on the outside, thanks to the magic of the air fryer.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lb chicken wings pat dried
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce low sodium
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 0.5 tsp fresh ginger grated
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
- 2 tbsp green onions chopped for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken wings thoroughly dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Air fry for 18-22 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- While the wings are cooking, prepare the sweet chili glaze. In a small saucepan, combine sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
- Once the wings are done, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the warm sweet chili glaze over the wings and toss gently until every wing is thoroughly coated.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce. Serve with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and chopped green onions. These also work great on the grill or baked in the oven. For grilling, cook over medium heat, turning frequently, until cooked through and charred.
