Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  • Combine boiling water, granulated sugar, white vinegar, and salt in a medium-sized heatproof bowl or jar.
  • Stir thoroughly until the sugar and salt are completely dissolved, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Allow the brine to cool completely to room temperature before pouring over vegetables for pickling to prevent softening.
  • Pour the cooled brine over your chosen vegetables packed in clean jars.
  • Seal jars and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving. Brine and pickled vegetables can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.

Notes

Ensure brine is completely cool before adding vegetables to prevent softening. Adjust sugar, salt, or vinegar ratios to taste. Great for cucumbers, onions, carrots, radishes, or even hard-boiled eggs. Add spices like dill, garlic, or peppercorns for custom flavors.
