Ingredients

  • 500 gram boneless chicken thighs cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 stalks green onions chopped
  • 12 wooden skewers soaked in water

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine minced garlic, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for richer flavor.
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates.
  • Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  • Grill the chicken skewers for 3-4 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and lightly charred.
  • Remove from grill, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate the chicken for at least 2 hours, or even overnight. You can also use pork or beef for this recipe. Serve with steamed rice and a fresh cucumber salad. If using wooden skewers, remember to soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
