Magic Butterfly Pea Tea: Color Change
A mesmerizing, all-natural herbal tea from Southeast Asia known for its stunning deep blue hue that magically transforms to vibrant purple with a squeeze of citrus. Refreshing and beautiful.
Ingredients
- 1 cup hot water
- 5 pieces dried butterfly pea flowers
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice or to taste
- optional honey or sweetener to taste
- optional ice for iced tea
Instructions
- Place the dried butterfly pea flowers in a heatproof mug or glass.
- Pour hot (not boiling) water over the flowers and steep for 3-5 minutes, until the water turns a deep blue.
- Strain out the flowers, discarding them.
- Add lemon juice gradually, watching the tea transform from blue to purple.
- Stir in honey or sweetener if desired. Serve hot, or pour over ice for a refreshing iced tea.
Notes
For a sweeter drink, add a touch of honey or agave. Experiment with lime or orange juice for different color shifts. Serve hot or iced. You can also add ginger or mint for an extra flavor kick.
