Homemade Turmeric Tamarind Jamu

Ingredients
  

  • 200 g fresh turmeric peeled and sliced
  • 50 g fresh ginger peeled and sliced
  • 50 g tamarind pulp seedless
  • 1 liter water
  • 50 g palm sugar or honey to taste

Instructions
 

  • Combine sliced turmeric, ginger, tamarind pulp, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth, pressing out all the liquid. Discard solids.
  • Stir in palm sugar or honey and a pinch of salt until dissolved. Adjust sweetness as desired.
  • Serve warm or chill completely before serving.

Notes

Adjust honey or palm sugar to your taste. For a spicier kick, add more ginger. Jamu can be enjoyed warm or chilled. Store in an airtight bottle in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
