Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen edamame in pods thawed
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes or to taste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds for garnish
  • Pinch salt to taste

Instructions

  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Add the thawed edamame to the skillet. Stir well to coat the pods in the garlic oil.
  • Pour in the soy sauce and rice vinegar. Toss everything together and cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to reduce slightly and coat the edamame.
  • Season with a pinch of salt if desired, though soy sauce provides much of the saltiness.
  • Transfer the spicy garlic edamame to a serving bowl. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra depth, toast sesame seeds lightly before sprinkling. If you prefer a milder taste, reduce the amount of chili flakes. Freshly grated ginger can also be added with the garlic for an aromatic kick. This dish is great served warm or at room temperature.
