Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh chives finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper freshly ground

Instructions

  • Place the softened unsalted butter in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Add the minced garlic, finely chopped fresh parsley, finely chopped fresh chives, salt, and freshly ground black pepper to the butter.
  • Using a fork or rubber spatula, mix all the ingredients thoroughly until they are well combined and evenly distributed throughout the butter.
  • Spoon the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper or plastic wrap.
  • Shape the butter into a log, about 1.5 to 2 inches in diameter. Roll it tightly in the paper or wrap, twisting the ends to seal.
  • Refrigerate the compound butter for at least 1 hour, or until it is firm, before slicing and using. It can be stored in the refrigerator or frozen for longer preservation.

Notes

Use unsalted butter for better flavor control. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for several months. Get creative with your flavor combinations, trying different herbs, spices, and citrus zests.
