Easy Mexican Street Tacos
Experience the vibrant flavors of Mexican street food with these quick and authentic tacos. Seasoned minced beef or chicken is piled onto warm tortillas, topped with fresh ingredients for a delicious meal.
Ingredients
- 500 g minced beef or chicken
- 1 tbsp cumin ground
- 1 tbsp paprika smoked or sweet
- 1 tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves minced fresh garlic
- 0.5 tsp salt to taste
- 0.25 tsp black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 8-12 small corn or flour tortillas
- 1 medium onion diced
- 0.5 cup fresh coriander chopped
- 0.5 cup sour cream or Mexican crema
- 1 medium lime for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the minced beef or chicken with ground cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the meat is evenly coated.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned meat and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- While the meat is cooking, warm the tortillas. You can do this in a dry skillet over medium heat for 15-20 seconds per side until pliable, or wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwave for 30-60 seconds.
- Assemble the tacos: Spoon a generous amount of the cooked seasoned meat onto each warm tortilla. Top with diced fresh onions and chopped coriander.
- Finish each taco with a dollop of sour cream or Mexican crema. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
Serve with lime wedges and a dash of hot sauce for extra zing. For a vegetarian option, use black beans or seasoned mushrooms. Warm tortillas in a dry pan for best results, or microwave briefly.
