Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Thai tea mix or strong black tea leaves
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 0.5 cup coconut sugar or maple syrup or agave nectar to taste
  • 0.5 cup full-fat coconut milk or almond milk for serving
  • 4 cups ice for serving

Instructions

  • Brew your Thai tea using 4 tablespoons of Thai tea mix or strong black tea leaves with 4 cups of hot water. Steep for 5-7 minutes until strong.
  • Strain the tea leaves and discard them, leaving a concentrated tea base.
  • While the tea is still warm, stir in 0.5 cup of coconut sugar, maple syrup, or agave nectar until fully dissolved and sweetened to your preference.
  • Allow the sweetened tea to cool completely to room temperature, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled (at least 1 hour).
  • To serve, fill glasses with 4 cups of ice. Pour the chilled Thai tea over the ice, leaving about an inch from the top. Drizzle or pour a generous amount of 0.5 cup full-fat coconut milk or almond milk over the tea. Stir gently before enjoying.

Notes

Adjust sweetness to taste. For a richer flavor, let the tea steep longer. Serve over crushed ice for the best experience. Can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
