Crispy Glazed Chicken Bites
A delicious dish featuring succulent chicken bites pan-fried to a golden crisp, then coated in a rich, glossy sauce for an unforgettable meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs cut into 1-inch pieces
- 0.25 cup cornstarch
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil for frying
- 0.25 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 0.5 tsp sesame oil
- 0.25 cup water or chicken broth
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
- 2 tbsp green onions sliced
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. You may need to cook in batches.
- Pan-fry chicken for 4-6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, and water or chicken broth.
- Pour the sauce into the same skillet and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing gently to coat all the pieces evenly with the glossy sauce.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving immediately.
Notes
For extra crispiness, ensure chicken pieces are dry before coating. Don't overcrowd the pan during frying to allow even browning. You can adjust the spice level by adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce. Serve over rice or with steamed vegetables.
