Ingredients

  • 2 cup milk any type (whole milk recommended)
  • 2 oz chocolate chopped or chips (dark or milk chocolate)
  • 1 tbsp sugar optional
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract optional

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, pour in the milk. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until it just begins to simmer and steam, about 5 minutes. Do not boil.
  • Add the chopped chocolate or chocolate chips to the warm milk. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • If desired, add sugar and vanilla extract. Stir until dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  • Carefully pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings like whipped cream, marshmallows, or a dusting of cocoa powder.

Notes

Use whole milk for extra creaminess or dairy-free milk for a vegan option. Adjust chocolate amount for desired sweetness. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cinnamon. A pinch of salt can enhance the chocolate flavor.
