Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
  • 0.25 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 slices thick-cut bread (e.g.
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (or vegan butter)
  • 0.5 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, gently heat the almond milk over medium-low heat until warm but not boiling.
  • Stir in the maple syrup (or honey) and vanilla extract into the hot almond milk. Keep warm.
  • While the milk heats, toast the bread to your desired crispness.
  • Once toasted, spread butter evenly over each slice of hot toast.
  • In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar generously over the buttered toast.
  • Pour the hot almond milk into a mug. Serve immediately with the decadent cinnamon sugar toast.

Notes

For extra decadence, use brioche or challah bread for the toast. Add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom to the almond milk for a different flavor profile. You can also swap cinnamon sugar for a drizzle of honey, maple syrup, or your favorite fruit preserve. For a richer milk, use full-fat almond milk or a mix of almond and oat milk.
