Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar and brown sugar with the cooled melted butter. Mix until well combined.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract. Beat until light and creamy.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For chewier cookies, don't overbake; remove them when the edges are golden and the centers are still slightly soft. Chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes can prevent spreading and enhance flavor. Feel free to mix in nuts or different types of chocolate chips for variation.
