Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon Matcha powder ceremonial grade
  • 60-80 ml Water filtered

Instructions

  • Sift matcha powder into a bowl to remove any clumps and ensure a smooth texture.
  • Add 60-80 ml of hot water (70-80°C or 158-176°F) to the sifted matcha in the bowl.
  • Using a bamboo whisk (chasen), whisk briskly in quick 'W' or zigzag motions across the surface of the liquid.
  • Continue whisking energetically for 30-60 seconds until a fine, creamy foam forms on the surface and the matcha is smooth and clump-free.
  • Gently skim the surface with the whisk to refine the foam and remove any larger bubbles.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your perfectly whisked matcha.

Notes

Use high-quality ceremonial grade matcha for the best flavor and foam. Adjust water temperature carefully; too hot can burn the tea. A dedicated matcha bowl (chawan) and bamboo scoop (chasaku) are helpful for traditional preparation. Practice makes perfect!
