Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 inch fresh ginger peeled and grated
  • 4 cups water cold
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup or molasses or to taste

Instructions

  • Combine apple cider vinegar, grated ginger, cold water, and your chosen sweetener (maple syrup or molasses) in a large pitcher.
  • Stir well until the sweetener is fully dissolved and all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  • Taste the switchel and adjust the amount of sweetener if desired, adding more for a sweeter drink or less for a tangier profile.
  • Refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and ensures the drink is perfectly chilled.
  • Serve the Switchel over ice, garnished with a slice of lemon or a sprig of mint if desired.

Notes

Serve chilled over ice. Adjust sweetener to taste. For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a slice of lemon. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week. Feel free to experiment with different natural sweeteners like honey.
