Spicy Garlic Gochujang Sauce
A quick and easy Korean-inspired sauce blending gochujang, garlic, soy sauce, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for drizzling over Asian dishes, marinades, or as a dipping sauce, offering a versatile kick of flavor.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp salted butter
- 2 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp gochujang
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
Instructions
- In a small saucepan or skillet, melt the salted butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Stir in the gochujang, black pepper, and garlic powder, mixing well to combine with the butter and garlic.
- Pour in the soy sauce and add the brown sugar, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves and the sauce begins to simmer.
- Continue to simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly. Remove from heat and serve warm, or let it cool before storing.
Notes
For a milder sauce, reduce the gochujang by half. Add a splash of water or chicken broth if you prefer a thinner consistency. This sauce is excellent on fried chicken, grilled vegetables, rice bowls, or as a vibrant stir-fry base. Stores well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
