Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tbsp gochujang
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 0.25 cup water or beef broth
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  • 1. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together gochujang, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and water or beef broth until smooth.
  • 2. Steam the broccoli: Place broccoli florets in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover and steam for 3-5 minutes, or until tender-crisp. Remove and set aside.
  • 3. Cook the beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
  • 4. Glaze the beef: Pour the prepared gochujang glaze over the beef. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
  • 5. Combine and serve: Add the steamed broccoli to the skillet with the glazed beef. Toss gently to combine. Serve immediately, optionally with rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving. Adjust the amount of gochujang to control the spice level. This dish pairs wonderfully with steamed white or brown rice.
