Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk any kind (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup or honey optional
  • 1/4 cup fresh berries for topping
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts for topping

Instructions

  • In a jar or container with a lid, combine the rolled oats, milk, and chia seeds.
  • Stir well to ensure everything is mixed and the chia seeds don't clump at the bottom.
  • Add maple syrup or honey if desired, and stir again until thoroughly combined.
  • Cover the container tightly with its lid and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 4 hours, to allow the oats to soften and absorb the liquid.
  • In the morning, give the oats a good stir. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency.
  • Top with fresh berries, chopped nuts, or any other preferred toppings before serving immediately.

Notes

Customize with fresh fruit like bananas or mango, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a dollop of yogurt, or a drizzle of honey/maple syrup. For a thicker consistency, add more chia seeds or a tablespoon of Greek yogurt. Can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
