  • 2 slices tomato
  • 1 tbsp butter for bread (optional)

Instructions
 

  • 1. Arrange the bread, cheese, ham, and pickles artfully on a serving board or plate.
  • 2. Add optional accompaniments like hard-boiled egg, apple slices, lettuce, cucumber, and tomato.
  • 3. Serve immediately, perhaps with a pat of butter for the bread and a pint of your favorite ale.

Notes

For an authentic experience, serve with a pint of ale. Feel free to vary the cheese (e.g., Stilton, Red Leicester) and cold meats (e.g., pork pie, salami). A hard-boiled egg or apple slices make great additions.
