Ingredients
  

  • 3 large ripe avocados mashed
  • 1/2 cup red onion finely diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1-2 jalapeño pepper finely minced (remove seeds for less heat)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • 1 small roma tomato diced

Instructions
 

  • Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  • Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocados to your desired consistency. Some prefer it chunky, others smooth.
  • Add the diced red onion, chopped cilantro, minced jalapeño, and lime juice to the bowl.
  • Season with salt and black pepper. If using, add the diced roma tomato.
  • Gently mix all ingredients until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve immediately with tortilla chips, crudités, or as a side dish. To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole if not serving right away.

Notes

For extra spice, include the seeds from the jalapeño or add a pinch of cayenne pepper. For a chunkier texture, mash the avocados less. Always use ripe avocados for the best flavor and consistency. Serve immediately to prevent browning, or press plastic wrap directly onto the surface.
