Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp white miso paste
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp sake optional
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 0.5 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 lb salmon fillets skin on or off
  • 1 tsp sesame oil for cooking
  • 1 pinch sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together miso paste, mirin, sake (if using), sugar, and soy sauce until smooth.
  • Pat salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Place them in a shallow dish or zip-top bag.
  • Pour the miso glaze over the salmon, ensuring it's evenly coated. Marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat sesame oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  • If using a skillet, sear salmon skin-side down (if applicable) for 2-3 minutes until crispy. Then flip.
  • Transfer salmon to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Baste with any remaining glaze during baking.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve this delicious miso glazed salmon with a side of steamed rice and your favorite stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal. For an even deeper flavor, you can marinate the salmon for up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator before cooking. Adjust the amount of sugar and mirin in the glaze to suit your sweetness preference.
