Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup cold milk (dairy or preferred non-dairy) for traditional cold foam
  • 0.25 cup chickpea liquid (aquafaba) from a can
  • 1 tsp sweetener (optional) like sugar

Instructions

  • 1. Ensure your chosen liquid (milk or aquafaba) is very cold. You can also chill your mixing bowl or frother for better results.
  • 2. **For Dairy Cold Foam:** Pour the cold milk into a small bowl, French press, or a dedicated milk frother. If using a frother, follow its instructions for cold foam. If using a French press, pump the plunger vigorously for 30-60 seconds until a thick foam forms. If using a whisk, whisk rapidly by hand or with a hand mixer until light and foamy.
  • 3. **For Vegan Aquafaba Cold Foam:** Pour the cold aquafaba into a clean, dry bowl. Using an electric hand mixer or stand mixer with a whisk attachment, beat on high speed for 2-4 minutes until soft peaks form and the liquid is frothy and opaque. A handheld frother can also work but may take longer.
  • 4. If using, add your sweetener and any optional flavorings during the last 15-30 seconds of whipping.
  • 5. Gently spoon the finished cold foam over your favorite iced coffee, tea, or any cold beverage. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, ensure your milk or aquafaba is very cold. You can add a splash of vanilla extract, a pinch of cinnamon, or a drizzle of syrup (like caramel or chocolate) with your sweetener for flavored cold foam. Any fat content of milk can be used, but whole milk or 2% often yield the creamiest results. Aquafaba works best when chilled.
