Korean BBQ Beef Rice Bowl
A flavorful, high-protein Korean BBQ beef recipe perfect for meal prep. Tender marinated beef served over fluffy rice, a satisfying and healthy dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin thinly sliced against the grain
- 0.5 cup soy sauce low sodium
- 0.25 cup brown sugar packed
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 inch ginger grated
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp black pepper freshly ground
- 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes optional
- 4 cups cooked white rice for serving
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
- 2 green onions sliced for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade. Toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Avoid overcooking to keep the beef tender.
- Serve the cooked Korean BBQ beef hot over individual bowls of cooked white rice.
- Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
For a slow cooker version, marinate beef overnight, then cook on low for 4-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours until tender. Shred or slice beef before serving. Serve with kimchi, a fried egg, or steamed vegetables for added nutrition. Adjust gochujang or red pepper flakes for desired spice level.
