Juice at Home: No Juicer Needed!
A simple and refreshing way to make homemade orange juice using just your hands and a strainer, perfect for when you don't have a juicer.
Ingredients
- 4 medium oranges ripe
- pinch salt optional
Instructions
- 1. Wash the oranges thoroughly.
- 2. Roll each orange firmly on a countertop for a few seconds to soften it, then cut each orange in half crosswise.
- 3. Hold one half of an orange over a bowl and firmly squeeze, twisting your wrist to extract as much juice as possible. If you have a citrus reamer, use it for better results. Repeat with all orange halves.
- 4. For a smoother, pulp-free juice, pour the extracted juice through a fine-mesh sieve or strainer into a serving glass or pitcher, pressing any remaining pulp to extract more liquid.
- 5. Stir in a pinch of salt if desired (it enhances sweetness). Serve immediately over ice if preferred.
Notes
For pulp-free juice, strain twice. Add a slice of ginger for a zingy twist. Serve chilled with ice. Rolling the oranges on a counter before cutting helps extract more juice.
