Ingredients

  • 2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cup maple syrup
  • 4 cup water cold
  • 1 inch fresh ginger grated or thinly sliced

Instructions

  • In a large pitcher, combine the apple cider vinegar, chosen sweetener (maple syrup, molasses, or honey), and grated or sliced fresh ginger.
  • Stir well until the sweetener is fully dissolved and all ingredients are combined.
  • Add the cold water to the pitcher and stir again.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness to your preference. If using grated ginger, strain it out after 30 minutes to 1 hour for a smoother drink, or leave it in for stronger flavor.
  • Chill the Switchel in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve over ice.

Notes

For a spicier kick, use more grated ginger or let it steep longer. Experiment with different sweeteners like honey, molasses, or even a mix. Add citrus slices (lemon, lime, orange) or fresh mint for extra flavor. Serve chilled over ice.
