Ingredients
- 1 cup Greek yogurt plain whole milk
- 2 tablespoons harissa paste adjust to taste
- 1 clove garlic minced or grated
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil extra virgin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh mint or cilantro chopped
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, harissa paste, grated garlic, fresh lemon juice, and olive oil.
- Stir all ingredients thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Season the dip with salt to taste. Taste and adjust harissa or lemon juice if desired.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and for the dip to chill. This step is important for optimal flavor.
- Garnish with fresh chopped mint or cilantro, if using, just before serving. Serve cold with pita bread, crackers, grilled vegetables, or as a condiment for meats.
Notes
For a milder dip, reduce the amount of harissa paste. For an extra herbaceous touch, stir in some finely chopped fresh mint or cilantro. This dip is best made at least 30 minutes in advance to allow the flavors to meld. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
