Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 2 tbsp gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 inch fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together gochujang, soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and water to make the glaze.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Pour the gochujang glaze over the chicken and stir to coat evenly.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken thoroughly.
  • Remove from heat and transfer to serving plates.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
  • Serve immediately with steamed rice and your favorite side dishes.

Notes

Serve with steamed rice and a side of kimchi or blanched vegetables. For extra crispiness, broil the chicken for the last few minutes. Adjust gochujang amount to control spiciness.
