Ingredients

  • 45 g gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 15 ml soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 10 ml sesame oil toasted
  • 15 g sugar granulated
  • 5 ml rice vinegar optional
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 15 ml water or to desired consistency

Instructions

  • 1. In a small bowl, combine gochujang, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, sugar, rice vinegar (if using), and minced garlic.
  • 2. Whisk all ingredients together until well combined and smooth.
  • 3. Gradually add water, one teaspoon at a time, until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. It should be thick enough to cling to food but still pourable.
  • 4. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more sugar for sweetness or gochujang for spice.
  • 5. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, use less water. Adjust sugar and gochujang to your preferred level of sweetness and spice. Add a pinch of toasted sesame seeds for extra texture and aroma.
