Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon water optional
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds optional

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine gochujang, rice vinegar, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, minced garlic, and sugar (or honey).
  • Whisk all ingredients together until well combined and smooth.
  • If the sauce is too thick, add water a teaspoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as needed; add more gochujang for extra spice, or more sugar for sweetness.
  • Stir in sesame seeds, if using, just before serving.
  • Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for flavors to meld.

Notes

Adjust the spice level by adding more or less gochujang. For a richer flavor, add a tiny dash of sesame oil. Great with mandu (dumplings), spring rolls, or even as a marinade base. Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
