Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 pinch salt optional

Instructions

  • Ensure unsalted butter is fully softened at room temperature, which typically takes about an hour.
  • In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, gochujang (Korean chili paste), sesame oil, and sugar to form a smooth paste.
  • Add the softened butter to the paste mixture. Using a fork or a rubber spatula, blend vigorously until thoroughly combined and smooth.
  • (Optional) Taste and add a pinch of salt if desired.
  • Transfer the butter mixture to a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap, shaping it into a log.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until firm, before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with steak, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes, or slather on toast. Adjust spice by varying gochujang amount. Add a pinch of salt if desired. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
