Ingredients
- 1 bag tortilla chips
- 0.5 lb ground beef lean
- 1 tbsp taco seasoning
- 0.5 cup water
- 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 0.5 cup salsa chopped
- 0.25 cup red onion diced
- 0.25 cup cilantro fresh
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, crumbling it as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in taco seasoning and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, until liquid has mostly evaporated.
- Spread tortilla chips in a single layer on a large, oven-safe platter or baking sheet.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the chips, then layer the seasoned ground beef.
- Top with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and top with salsa, diced red onion, and fresh cilantro. Serve hot.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with seasoned black beans or lentils. Feel free to add jalapeños for a spicy kick or a dollop of sour cream and guacamole for extra creaminess. Serve immediately for best results!
