Gingery Pear & ACV Fizz
A vibrant and invigorating non-alcoholic drink featuring homemade gingery pear syrup with a zesty apple cider vinegar kick, topped with bubbly club soda. It is perfect for an early fall refreshment or as a sophisticated mocktail.
Ingredients
- 2 medium ripe pears peeled
- 1 inch fresh ginger peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup water
- 0.5 cup granulated sugar
- 0.25 cup apple cider vinegar
- 0.25 cup Gingery Pear Syrup (per glass)
- 0.75 cup club soda chilled (per glass)
- cup ice (per glass)
- slice pear for garnish (optional)
- sprig fresh mint for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Make the Gingery Pear Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine chopped pears, sliced ginger, water, and granulated sugar.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until pears are very soft and the sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Carefully strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar or bottle, pressing down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
- Stir in the apple cider vinegar into the strained syrup. Let the syrup cool completely, then refrigerate until chilled. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
- Assemble the Fizz: To make one drink, fill a glass with ice.
- Add 1/4 cup (or to taste) of the chilled gingery pear syrup to the glass.
- Top with 3/4 cup of chilled club soda.
- Stir gently to combine.
- Garnish with a fresh pear slice and a sprig of mint, if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, add a cinnamon stick or a few whole cloves to the syrup while simmering. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Adjust the amount of syrup to your sweetness preference. Garnish with a thin pear slice, a sprig of fresh mint, or a twist of lemon peel for an elegant touch.
