- 0.25 cup Rice Flour
- 0.25 cup Honey or Corn Syrup
- 0.25 cup Chili Powder adjust to taste
- 0.5 cup Hot Water as needed for consistency
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine rice flour and about 1/4 cup of hot water to form a smooth paste, ensuring no lumps
- Gradually add the remaining hot water, stirring constantly, until the mixture is a thick, smooth liquid
- In a small saucepan, combine the rice flour mixture, honey (or corn syrup), and chili powder
- Heat over medium-low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens into a paste-like consistency, about 5-8 minutes
- Remove from heat and let cool completely; the paste will thicken further as it cools
- Transfer the homemade chili paste to an airtight jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
For a deeper flavor, consider adding 1 minced garlic clove and 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger. A splash of rice vinegar or soy sauce can also enhance the taste. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Use it as a marinade, a stir-fry base, a dipping sauce for spring rolls, or a spread for sandwiches.
