Ingredients
- 2 lb beef chuck roast cut into 2-3 inch pieces
- 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix 1 oz
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix 0.6 oz
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Place the beef chuck roast pieces evenly in the bottom of your slow cooker or Dutch oven.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the tomato sauce, taco seasoning mix, au jus gravy mix, and beef broth until well combined.
- Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the beef in the slow cooker, ensuring the beef is mostly submerged.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on the LOW setting for 5-6 hours, or until the beef is exceptionally tender and can be easily shredded with a fork.
- Carefully remove the cooked beef from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board or large plate. Using two forks, shred the beef into desired pieces.
- Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker with the sauce, stirring to coat the beef thoroughly. Serve warm with your favorite accompaniments.
Notes
This shredded beef is incredibly versatile! Serve it in warm tortillas for tacos, on toasted buns for sandwiches, over rice, with pasta, or as a topping for nachos. For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a diced jalapeño to the sauce. You can also mix in some chopped onions or bell peppers during the last hour of cooking for added vegetables.
