Caprese on a Stick is a classic Italian appetizer combining fresh mozzarella, ripe cherry tomatoes, and aromatic basil, drizzled with balsamic glaze, for a simple and elegant bite.
Ingredients
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes
- 1 pound fresh mozzarella balls small (bocconcini)
- 20 leaves fresh basil large
- 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Gently wash and dry cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves.
- Drain fresh mozzarella balls. If using larger mozzarella, cut them into bite-sized pieces suitable for skewers.
- Carefully thread one cherry tomato onto a small skewer, followed by a basil leaf, then a mozzarella ball. Repeat the pattern if space allows, ensuring the skewer holds securely.
- Arrange the assembled Caprese skewers neatly on a serving platter.
- Just before serving, drizzle a generous amount of balsamic glaze over the skewers. Season lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance the flavors. Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the mozzarella balls in a little olive oil and fresh herbs before assembling. You can also add a small piece of prosciutto or salami for a non-vegetarian option, or a slice of avocado for extra creaminess.
