Easy Honey Garlic Chicken
A beloved quick-serve dish, Honey Garlic Chicken is a staple for busy weeknights. Its delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors, coated in a luscious glaze, makes it an instant family favorite.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup honey
- 0.25 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar optional
- 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast or thighs cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water for slurry
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar (if using), and grated ginger (if using).
- In a separate small bowl, combine cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Add slurry to the sauce mixture and whisk until smooth. Set aside.
- Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil or sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add chicken to the hot skillet and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the cooked chicken. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken, about 2-3 minutes.
- Serve immediately over rice, noodles, or with steamed vegetables. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
For extra vegetables, add sliced bell peppers, broccoli florets, or snap peas to the pan after cooking the chicken, stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, then add the sauce. Serve with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.
