Easy Creamy Chicken Delight
A comforting and quick creamy chicken dish, perfect for a weeknight dinner. Tender chicken pieces are simmered in a rich sauce infused with garlic, onion, milk, and a hint of white wine.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast or thighs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 medium yellow onion thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic grated
- 1 cup milk whole or 2%
- 1/2 cup dry white wine such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio
- 1 tsp granulated chicken consommé or chicken bouillon powder
- salt to taste
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
Instructions
- Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large frying pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook until lightly browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and grated garlic, frying until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the milk and white wine. Stir in the granulated chicken consommé or bouillon powder. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Return the browned chicken to the frying pan. Simmer over low heat for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has slightly thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley, alongside your favorite sides like fluffy rice, creamy mashed potatoes, or al dente pasta. Crusty bread is also fantastic for soaking up every last drop of the delicious sauce!
Notes
Serve with rice, pasta, or crusty bread. For a thicker sauce, mix a teaspoon of cornstarch with a tablespoon of cold water and stir into the simmering sauce. Add mushrooms or spinach for extra vegetables.
