Easy Chicken Skewers Recipe
These flavorful chicken skewers are marinated in a sweet and savory soy-honey glaze, making them incredibly tender and juicy. They're quick to prepare, perfect for a weeknight dinner or a party appetizer, and burst with delicious Asian-inspired flavors.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 lb chicken breast cut into 1-inch cubes
- 8 wooden skewers soaked in water
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, mirin, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Whisk until well combined.
- Add the chicken cubes to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.
- While the chicken marinates, soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning during cooking.
- Once marinated, thread the chicken pieces onto the soaked skewers, typically 4-5 pieces per skewer.
- Preheat a griddle pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the cooking surface to prevent sticking.
- Place the chicken skewers on the hot griddle or grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice caramelized glaze. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
For best flavor, marinate chicken for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before threading to prevent burning. Serve with rice and a side salad, or as an appetizer. You can also cook these in an oven or air fryer.
