Easy Air Fryer Chicken Skewers
Flavorful, juicy chicken skewers marinated in sake, sugar, and salt, then perfectly cooked in the air fryer for a quick and healthy Asian-inspired meal.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs or breast cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 tbsp sake cooking
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 6 count wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the chicken pieces with sake, sugar, and salt. Mix well to ensure all chicken is coated.
- Cover the bowl and marinate in the refrigerator for 15 to 30 minutes.
- While the chicken marinates, preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers. Ensure not to overcrowd the skewers.
- Place the skewers in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to cook in batches.
- Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, flipping the skewers halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning and cooking. Chicken should be cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the skewers from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of soy sauce, grated ginger, or minced garlic to the marinade. Ensure chicken pieces are uniform in size for even cooking. Serve with steamed rice, a light salad, or blanched green beans. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes before threading to prevent burning.
