Ingredients

  • 1 pound broccoli cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil divided
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ginger grated (optional)
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, toss broccoli florets with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Spread them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  • Roast for 10-12 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender-crisp and slightly charred.
  • While the broccoli roasts, whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon sesame oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger (if using), and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small bowl.
  • Remove the roasted broccoli from the oven. Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the broccoli and toss gently to coat every floret.
  • Return the broccoli to the oven and roast for another 8-10 minutes, or until the sauce slightly caramelizes and the broccoli achieves a deeper crispiness.
  • Transfer the crispy sesame garlic broccoli to a serving dish. Sprinkle generously with toasted sesame seeds before serving hot. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure broccoli is completely dry before tossing with oil. Adjust red pepper flakes for desired spice level. A squeeze of fresh lime juice at the end can add a bright finish.
